چکیده
We report a strategy for analysis of data quality in cDNA microarrays based on the repeatability of multiply spotted clones. We describe how repeatability can be used to control data quality by developing adaptive filtering criteria for microarray data containing clones spotted in multiple spots. We have applied the method on five publicly available cDNA microarray data sets and one previously unpublished data set from our own lab. The results demonstrate the feasibility of the approach as a foundation for data filtering, and indicate a high degree of variation in data quality, both across the data sets and between arrays within data sets.

Upregulation of HOTAIR Transcript Level in Tumor Tissue of Iranian Women with Breast Cancer
Background:Dysregulation of HOX Transcript Antisense Intergenic RNA (HOTAIR) has been linked to the etiopathogenesis of several human cancers. According to epidemiological evidences, the risk of susceptibility to breast cancer varies among different populations. This study was designed to determine the transcriptional level of HOTAIR in tumor cells of breast cancer pat...
متن کاملProhibitin 2 mRNA downregulation in breast cancer tumor tissues
Introduction: Breast cancer is the most important cause of cancer mortality among women, therefore the study of its causative or aggravating factors seems necessary. In this study, the mRNA levels of the PHB2 gene were evaluated in tumor and adjacent non-tumor tissues of 50 women diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast. Methods: RNX-Plus solution was used to isolate total RNA fro...
متن کاملSupernatant Metabolites from Halophilic Archaea to Reduce Tumorigenesis in Prostate Cancer In-vitro and In-vivo
Halophilic archaea are known as the novel producers of natural products and their supernatant metabolites could have cytotoxic effects on cancer cells. In the present study, we screened the anticancer potential of supernatant metabolites from eight native haloarchaeal strains obtained from a culture collection in Iran. Five human cancer cell lines including breast, lung, prostate and also human...

متن کاملQuantitation of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor and Interleukin-6 in Different Stages of Breast Cancer
Background: Determination of the impact of angiogenesis on tumor development and progression is essential. This study aimed to determine the serum levels of Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and Interleukin 6 (IL-6) in breast carcinoma, and to correlate them with tumor size, lymph node involvement, and cancer stage. Methods: Under aseptic precautions 5 ml of venous blood was collecte...
متن کاملCancer/Testis genes in relation to sperm biology and function
Cancer testis antigens (CTAs), a large family of tumor-associated and immunogenic antigens expressed in human tumors of various histological origins, are highly restricted to the testis and trophoblast. CTAs have been identified as potent targets for tumor-specific immunotherapeutic advances and have immensely lead to the development of different clinical trials of CTA-based vaccine therapy bec...
